The Statesman hosted robust evening of events and programming interspersed with live news updates as the country waited to hear the winner of the 2020 presidential election. The livestream featured four hours of interesting and comprehensive programs on election-related issues.
On Sunday, June 7, about 500 local residents gathered at the Freeport Long Island Rail Road train station in Freeport, NY to protest in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and insist on justice for George Floyd. The Nassau County Police Department walked alongside protestors throughout the entire protest. Residents marched through Freeport, took a detour to the Freeport Nautical Mile and then walked to the neighboring town of Merrick.
